Desert Files Prayer Paths

centering prayer

During the 6 or so weeks of the Desert Files activity in Lent, you have the option of participating in a Prayer Path. You choose one type of devotional practice at the outset and commit to it for the duration of the Lent process. We will give you a basic outline of each prayer practice at the outset. Each practice will have further exercises and more nuanced material added in the form of updates you may want to integrate into your practice each week.

Ideally a prayer practice works best at around 20 minutes’ exercise a day. But there is no problem with it being only 5 minutes a day if that is all you can comfortably manage. The issue though is consistency. 5 minutes a day 5-7 days a week works infinitely better than 4 hours once a week.

While you are welcome to change prayer form as you go through the Lent process it generally works better just to choose one and stick with it for the duration, to allow the prayer form time to develop and unfold through your life across the six weeks.
