The Desert Files
The Desert Files is a physical exhibition of Easter art generated at Cityside through the six weeks of Lent. During this time, Citysiders have meditated on the Seven Last Sayings of Christ on the Cross. They have done so through different forms of meditation facilitated from a website; through journalling with an online blog; and through the process of making art.
For more about the background and process of the desert files, see the why & how page.
For a view of some of the results of the process, see the virtual desert files 2008 exhibition.
To hear the artists talk about their work, see the transcript of the opening night event.
“To pray is to pay attention to something or someone other than oneself. Whenever a man so concentrates his attention … that he completely forgets his own ego and desires, he is praying.”
“Absolutely unmixed attention is prayer.”
