'It is finished' . . . Silver Scrolls through time tell of a story of redemption and restoration. Through lent I couldn’t engage in the art, I was trying to face certain things and let them go, before I physically did the art . . . the day before exhibition deadline I finally engaged in the art and wrote the sections of Psalm 80 up . . . those scriptures are all I could do. The black and white of scripture . . . the power behind their truth. I have drunken bowls of tears like the Israelites . . . In fact my journey is mirroring that of the Israelites . . . the image of Christ’s feet and his blood trickling through the rock and resting on the mercy seat of the arch of the covenant . . . being the final sacrifice for mankind . . . that's really the guts of 'it is finished' for me . . . all of history pivots on that moment of holy sacrifice . . . Jesus did that for us . . . for all mankind . . . once for all. I found my art turned out to be nothing too abstract or of modern thought, which disappointed me . . . highlighting that as an artist I have a long way to go, and also on my Christian journey. . . moving from a fundamental, Pentecostal 'Jesus everything' faith . . . into a more liberal, personal, intelligent faith. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience . . . and benefited spiritually from the whole process.
